Bowling & Billiards logo

Bowling has been an FSU tradition since 1964, when Crenshaw Lanes first opened as a twelve-lane bowling center in the Oglesby Union. Today, that legacy continues in the brand new FSU Student Union Bowling & Billiards, a state-of-the-art recreation center featuring twelve bowling lanes, a full-service pro shop, seven billiard tables, and a multi-sport simulator.

Bowling and Billiards offers endless fun with bowling leagues, billiards tournaments, intramurals, parties, cosmic bowling, late-night programs, and open bowling for everyone to enjoy. It’s one of the most popular spots on campus for students, university groups, and the Tallahassee community alike.

The center is also home to the FSU Bowling Team, proudly representing the university in intercollegiate competition and recognized as one of the premier collegiate bowling programs in the nation.

History of the Program

FSU Bowling & Billiards History

Bowling at FSU began with the opening of the University Union on November 14, 1964. The 130,000-square-foot complex featured dining areas, lounges, meeting rooms, and a recreation space in the Crenshaw Building—named for Robert “Bob” Crenshaw, a 1956 FSU graduate, class president, and football co-captain. It was here that bowling and billiards first became part of campus life.

As FSU grew, so did the need for a new Student Union. On September 23, 2022, President Richard McCullough officially opened the new 300,000-square-foot facility, complete with the FSU Bowling & Billiards Center on the lower level. Today, it continues a proud FSU tradition of recreation, connection, and fun.
